Happy St. Patty's Day everybody! I'm wearing bright green eye shadow paired with lime colored nails....No one better pinch me!!!!
I recently asked my fans for suggestions on what foods to pair with wine for St. Patrick's Day. Lucky Charms with its cute little leprechaun and lucky token marshmallows seemed like the perfect idea! Big shout out to Jason who is also receiving a bottle of this wine!
Treat yourself to a St. Patty's Day like never before by grabbing a box of Lucky Charms accompanied by a bottle of Toad Hollow "Risque" sparkling wine. Risque comes from the Limoux region of France and is made by "methode ancestrale." This method of making sparkling wine is rarely used, but results in a slightly fizzy, sweet wine, which is exactly what we need for Lucky Charms!
After a bite of the cereal and then a sip of the wine, I love how the wine's flavors of grapefruit, green apple, pear, honey and a touch of minerality enhance the flavor of the Lucky Charms. I especially love the flavor of the oats against the honey notes in the wine. The wine is creamy on the palate, mimicking the texture of the marshmallows and has just the right amount of sugar to stand up to the sweetness of the cereal. The final note of this pairing doesn't disappoint either. Risque's refreshing acidity cleanses the palate and strips the layer of film left on the tongue by the marshmallows. The pairing was so good, I think I'm going to make Lucky Charms and Toad Hollow "Risque" sparkling wine a new St. Patty's Day tradition!
