Craisins® are a great little snack to have on the go. Although dieters and health nuts tend to pick up this product more than others, they aren't without fault. Cranberries themselves have a ton of health benefits but the added sugar doesn't exactly create a guilt free snack. I personally like the cherry flavored Craisins®. I throw them on top of salads or in my purse when I want something sweet.
If the color alone isn't an exact match, the flavor and style of the 2010 Yalumba Sangiovese Rose works incredibly with cherry flavored Craisins®. The wine is from the Barossa Valley of Australia. It has notes of raspberries, strawberries and violets with a touch of minerality. The wine has flavors of strawberry with a touch of spice and a touch of sugar. It's well balanced and one of the prettiest colored wines I've seen in years! "Wine Spectator" gave the wine 90 points out of 100 as well. After a bite of the food and a sip of the wine, I notice the cherry flavor intensify and a Fuji apple flavor spring forth. The sugar in the wine mirrors the sugar in the food and the wine has enough acidity to match the tartness of the cranberries. This acidity also helps to cleanse the palate in-between bites. I've decided I almost like Craisins® more with the wine than I did before. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
